Hello and welcome to my new blog! This is my first post, so I thought I would tell you a bit about myself and what to expect from my blog.
My name is Cheryl Golden, as you may have already gathered. I’m an orthodontist in Bexley, Ohio, which is just east of Columbus. I love the Columbus area and am proud to call it home. I was born and raised in Columbus and went to Bexley High School, where I graduated as valedictorian.
Born a Buckeye, I enrolled at The Ohio State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a DDS from the OSU College of Dentistry. I went to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles to complete a three-year residency and obtain my Master’s Degree, but no amount of sunshine or palm trees could keep me from Columbus.
(You can find a more detailed description of my education and qualifications on the Meet Dr. Golden page.)
I came back to Bexley to open Golden Orthodontics, and I’ve never been happier. Helping to perfect the smiles in my community — braces for a young boy from Bexley or a woman from Whitehall, Invisalign to correct the crowded teeth of a Capital University student, a retainer for a child from Columbus — brings me joy every day.
One of the best things about being an orthodontist is that you tend to notice smiles more than the average person. And I’ve noticed that people in the Columbus area love to smile. All these healthy smiles are part of a healthy community with which I’ve become heavily involved and deeply enamored.
Bexley is a town as outgoing as it is close-knit. Residents gather for countless events year-round. I post about a lot of these events on my facebook page, along with other orthodontics- or Bexley-related things I find amusing and/or informative.
I want this blog to be another means to communicate with Bexley, and other communities near Columbus. But I also want to share the insights and advice I’ve gathered as an orthodontist.
In the coming weeks, I’ll post about:
- Deciding on ceramic braces (clear braces) or metal braces, weighing the appearance and cost of braces
- What you need to know about orthodontics and your insurance
- The benefits of Invisalign for children and adults
- The importance of early treatment
